In 2024, the number of tourists visiting Armenia amounted to 2,208,179, decreasing by 4.7 percent. This was announced by Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan during the debates on the annual report on the implementation of the 2024 state budget of Armenia at Wednesday’s joint meeting of the standing committees of the parliament.

And as a reason for this decrease in the number of tourists and remittances to Armenia, Hovhannisyan noted the Russian factor.

“This is mainly due to the decrease in the number of tourists from Russia,” he said, adding that the large influx of Russian citizens to Armenia in 2022 and 2023 was temporary.

Also, the minister of finance noted that the drop in remittances from Russia had a negative impact—Moreover, by 52.8 percent—on the 34.8 percent decline in non-commercial remittances to Armenia.

All these factors, according to Vahe Hovhannisyan, are consistently returning to their natural level.
