YEREVAN. – In comparison with the previous quarters, Armenia’s minimum basket value dropped in the third quarter of 2011, and it constitutes 53,800 drams (approx. US$ 140), National Statistical Service official Gurgen Martirosyan stated during a press conference on Wednesday.

According to Martirosyan, this reduction is conditioned on the seasonal drop in vegetable and fruit prices. And as a result, the minimum basket value of the fourth quarter will increase.    

Gurgen Martirosyan also informed that, in November 2011, the average monthly nominal salary was 114,700 drams (approx. $298), which is a 6.3-percent increase from the year past.
