Based on the results of the study conducted for the construction of a new nuclear power unit in Armenia, its model will be determined, taking into account both the peculiarities of Armenia's energy system as well as matters of capacity and funding structure. The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan, stated this during the debates on the report on the implementation of the 2024 state budget of Armenia at Monday’s joint meeting of the standing committees of the parliament.

"In order to build a new nuclear power unit in Armenia, research into nuclear technology operating in the world, including modular reactors, continues. For this purpose, last year the government created the New Nuclear Power Unit Construction CJSC, which is currently in the process of staffing," Khudatyan said.

The minister of territorial administration and infrastructure added that work is continuing on the modernization and extension of the operating life of the second power unit of the Armenia’s nuclear plant.
