In 2025, messenger Telegram blocked about 16.32 million groups and channels, of which more than 130 thousand were distributing terrorist content. This is stated in the official report published on the website of the company, reports RIA Novosti.

From the beginning of the year to July 2, Telegram restricted access to 16,317,027 communities, of which 2,503,888 were removed in June. In particular, since the beginning of 2025, the messenger has blocked 129,718 channels and chats related to terrorism, and in June alone -20,344. 

By comparison, in 2024, 15,383,034 communities were removed, of which 128,913 were involved in spreading extremist information.

As the company notes, since 2015 Telegram has been using moderation based on user complaints and proactive monitoring using machine learning algorithms. Since the beginning of 2025, these methods have been reinforced with new artificial intelligence tools.
