YEREVAN. – Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party is conducting talks with the opposition Armenian National Congress, ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party, and Free Democrats Party, during which they are discussing the matter of changing to a 100-percent proportional election system, Heritage MP Armen Martirosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

In response to the question as to the possibility of holding joint rallies, or other actions, as a result of these talks, Martirosyan said this will depend on the results of the working consultation. “Our opposition colleagues immediately responded to the announcement and expressed their support. So, I believe we can carry out joint actions,” he noted.     

In Armen Martirosyan’s words, however, joining around a100-percent proportional election system is not that step based upon which a possible united bloc can be discussed. “Blocs suppose a much greater cooperation; they assume a greater number of matters. I do not think this to be the issue which could turn into a bloc,” the Heritage MP stated.
