YEREVAN. - Armenia’s MFA established contact with its citizen in South Sudan, MFA Press Secretary Tigran Balayan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
In his words, the citizen of Armenia is free and safe, and South Sudan authorities have no problems concerning Armenia’s citizen.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, MFA had ascertained the identity of Armenia’s citizen who was arrested in South Sudan, but the citizen’s name is not made public for ethical concerns.
To note, the crew—including a citizen of Armenia—of an airplane belonging to the Park Air Company of Sudan was arrested in South Sudan. The crewmembers also include the citizens of Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Russia, and Sudan. All of them were arrested by the South Sudan Special Service and were subsequently taken to a military camp. No formal information is yet given on the cause of the arrests.
