Italian film director and actor Nanni Morretti will head the jury of the 65th Cannes Film Festival.

Maretti said it is a joy, an honor and a great responsibility to head the jury of the world’s most prestigious film festival, which will take place in the country which always relates carefully and respectfully to cinema, AFP reports.

Moretti’s “The Son’s Room”, where he was a director, screenwriter, producer and actor, was the winner of Palme d'Or award at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival.

Moretti also took part in the creation of “To Each His Own Cinema” anthology film.

This year’s Cannes Film festival will take place on May 16-27.
