The U.S. Department of the Treasury has prohibited its employees from sharing photos of the ongoing construction of the new White House ballroom, after images showing the partial demolition of the East Wing went viral online, The Wall Street Journal reported.

According to the outlet, the Treasury Department’s main offices are located next to the East Wing, giving its staff a direct view of President Donald Trump’s $250 million ballroom project.

“As construction is underway on the White House grounds, employees must refrain from taking or sharing photos of the area, including the East Wing, without prior approval from the Office of Public Affairs,” the paper quoted from an internal Treasury email.

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that construction crews had begun demolishing part of the East Wing, despite Trump’s earlier promise not to alter the existing White House layout. U.S. officials confirmed that the new ballroom will effectively replace the East Wing.

Initially estimated at $200 million, the project’s cost has since risen to $250 million. The president has emphasized that the work will not use federal funds and will instead be financed through private donations from individuals, corporations, and Trump himself. The new ballroom is expected to accommodate up to 650 guests.
