YEREVAN. – Renowned French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour on Thursday heralded—in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan—the creation of Aznavour Foundation.

In his remarks at the respective event, to which President Serzh Sargsyan also attended, Aznavour noted that he established this foundation jointly with son, Nicolas Aznavour.

“The foundation will continue my charitable activities being carried out ever since the devastating earthquake [that hit Armenia] in 1988,” he stated, in particular. “The objective of the foundation will be to assist the most vulnerable segments of society of the population in Armenia.

“This initiative is the testimony of my devotion to the future of Armenia.

“We all need to direct our joint efforts to the development of the homeland.”
The first project of the Aznavour Foundation will be the establishment of the Charles Aznavour House Museum in Yerevan.

Aznavour and his family have decided to donate all of the singer’s awards,  personal possessions, and everything that constitutes his legacy to this museum.
