YEREVAN. – First of all, due to the efforts by the political leadership of the Republic of Armenia and defined by the clear tactics and actions of our armed forces, we have had a quite calm frontline in 2018—especially since June, as compared with the previous years.

Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan stated the aforementioned during Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s consultation Saturday with the executives from the Ministry of Defense (MOD) and the senior officers of the Armed Forces. He noted this as he presented the achievements in Armenia’s defense system in 2018, as well as the main priorities for 2019.

“With its readiness and discipline, our army today will maintain both the political arrangements and, if necessary, it will impose upon the adversary—with corresponding actions—favorable conditions for us,” Tonoyan added.

In the minister’s words, keeping the armed forces away from impacting on political processes, and the changes in the military draft process also were among the main accomplishments in the year past.

Davit Tonoyan noted that the development of productive cooperation with Armenia’s allies and partners continued in 2018, too.

In his words, the structural changes within the administration system of the Armenian army are concluding.
