YEREVAN. – The process of technically supplying the borders is constantly being improved. Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Artak Davtyan, on Saturday told this to reporters while responding to the query on what technical means are being supplied to the country’s borders, and whether these means are sufficient for border control.

“We discarded the previous video cameras, since [now] there are better video cameras with better conditions,” he added. “Our demands are constantly changing. In addition to optic-electronic equipment, we are now developing a radar network for land targets and targeting; the process is in constant development. In addition, we are including conscripts who have education and skills to work with sophisticated equipment in the operation and maintenance of the given means, which, in addition to savings of means, also leads to efficiency.”

And with respect to acquisition of new weapons, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia said as follows: “Imports of quite a lot of military equipment have begun and will continue, both this year and during the second year—already on the basis of contracts. At the same time, the [said] military equipment relates to antiaircraft, missile defense, long-range, precision downing means, as well as the firepower intelligence capacities are increasing at our armed forces.”
