YEREVAN. -- Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said it was a surprise, but he was pleased to see that his actions in Ijevan received a broad support.

“This means that a revolution of thought has begun. People understand that it is impossible to destroy national wealth in the name of 10, 20 or 100 families, especially if the social problems of these people are not solved by cutting trees. I am native of Ijevan and I know that these people both lived poorly and continue to live poorly. And those who began to live well are the people who were joined in groups,” he said.

The second positive reaction Pashinyan got was after his trip to Gyumri where he was approached by a mother of many children and asked for help, and in response he asked why her adult son was not working. After this incident, Pashinyan took to Facebook urging people to work.

“People at different times were expecting humanitarian aid from the authorities. I wrote a post, and this post also received a positive response. In this context, I emphasize the importance of tax reforms. People need to understand that they must solve their immediate problems with their legitimate work. In Armenia we have many economic opportunities that are not used properly. We must encourage people to use these opportunities, and our task is to increase these opportunities weekly. A poor person should be able to get rich by means of working,”said Pashinyan.
