Karen Khachatryan, nephew of former head of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan and former head of the Internal Safety Department of the State Revenue Committee, will also be apprehended. This is what Director of the National Security Service Artur Vanetsyan told journalists during a briefing in front of the building of the National Security Service today.

Vanetsyan declared that no operation has been carried out against the sons of Gagik Khachatryan.

“Karen Khachatryan, one of Gagik Khachatryan’s close ones, will be apprehended, but there is still no ground or evidence to apprehend the sons of Gagik Khachatryan,” Vanetsyan said, adding that the National Security Service will issue a statement and provide the public with all the details regarding the case by the end of the day.

Earlier, Director of the National Security Service Artur Vanetsyan had reported that, within the scope of the criminal case instituted in relation to the case of extortion in particularly large amounts and misuse of official position by Gagik Khachatryan, the National Security Service had been conducting searches in the house, apartment, mansion and territories belonging to Gagik Khachatryan, as well as in the territories and mansions of other persons affiliated to Gagik Khachatryan since early this morning. Vanetsyan promised that Gagik Khachatryan will be apprehended after the searches.
