If you consider requesting documents and the granting of documents on our behalf as support, then yes, we have provided support. This is what Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia Davit Ananyan told journalists today, touching upon the provision of data regarding the arrest of former Minister of Finance of Armenia Gagik Khachatryan to the National Security Service on the part of the State Revenue Committee.
“The body of the National Security Service conducting investigative operations has probably done a large amount of work and has obtained certain documents, including documents from the State Revenue Committee, and based on those documents, witnesses and various investigative operations, it has come to a certain conclusion and filed a charge,” Ananyan said.
When asked if the National Security Service has requested data regarding employees of the State Revenue Committee dating back to the years 2010, 2014 and 2016, Ananyan said the following: “I won’t tell you. I can’t tell you what kind of data the National Security Service requested from the Committee. It is a principle of confidentiality of the preliminary investigation.”
based on the factual data obtained through large-scale operational intelligence actions and investigative operations that were launched a long time ago within the scope of the criminal case instituted by the Investigation Department of the National Security Service of Armenia back on February 2, 2019, the National Security Service conducted searches in the homes and mansions of former Head of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, former Minister of Finance Gagik Khachatryan and several persons affiliated to him.
On the same day, after the searches, Gagik Khachatryan and Karen Khachatryan (former high-ranking official of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia) were apprehended under the suspicion of commission of crimes provided for by the Criminal Code of Armenia (misuse of official position causing grave consequences and extortion of property in particularly large amounts), taken to the Investigation Department of the National Security Service of Armenia and arrested.
