A while ago, the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction, under the chairmanship of Judge Artush Gabrielyan, began to examine the preventive measure for former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan.

The Investigation Department of the National Security Service has filed a motion to select detention as a preventive measure for Khachatryan.

Khachatryan is charged with misuse of official position and squander in particularly large amounts.

The National Security Service on Tuesday arrested Gagik Khachatryan and his nephew, former official of the State Revenue Committee Karen Khachatryan. On the morning of the same day, searches were conducted in the territories pertaining to them. The charge filed against them is linked to the alleged offences that Gagik Khachatryan committed when he was Minister of Finance and Chairman of the State Revenue Committee.
