If Levon Kocharyan has information about pressure on courts, he should address law-enforcement authorities. This is what Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan told journalists following the session of the My Step faction today, in response to the statement of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan’s son Levon Kocharyan that courts are under pressure at the level of the head of state.

“If Levon Kocharyan has information about pressure on courts, he should address law-enforcement authorities. I represent a political authority and can only give a political evaluation, but I believe the public has given its evaluation through the elections and at the high level of the Prime Minister,” he said.

Levon Kocharyan today declared the following during a conversation with journalists near the building of the Constitutional Court:

“We all see the repressions. As to who submits to those repressions, who finds the strength inside and who acts by law, that is a different story. There were judges who rendered decisions, knowing very well that they wouldn’t please the authorities at all. Where else in the world have you seen the primary figure of a country call on people to block entrances to and exits from courts?”
