YEREVAN. – This year we celebrate the Emergency Situations Ministry worker’s day in special conditions. We have all witnessed the enormous work of rescuers, fire and rescuer workers, which they carried out and continue to carry out throughout the Republic of Armenia. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday said this in his remarks at the event devoted to the day of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) workers.

In the premier’s words, however, we now face new challenges of emergency—and due to climate change.

“The matter of effectively responding to emergencies, managing them effectively should be at the constant focus on the government’s agenda,” he said, in particular. “Raising public awareness (…) should be one of the important missions of the rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.”

The premier added that the prevention of emergencies is less costly, and more effective.

“Over the course of these years, the rescuers’ standing, degree of trust have steadily increased among the public,” Nikol Pashinyan noted, addressing the MES workers. “This is, I believe, the most important assessment of the work you do.”
