All penitentiary establishments in Armenia face a problem of maintaining the prisoners, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Thursday during the government’s meeting.

“Most of our penitentiaries do not meet the standards set by the Armenia legislation. What the law prescribes as a penitentiary institution is not really a penitentiary, it is simply a fenced-in area, which has more ghetto status than the penitentiary. This problem is profound,” he said.
