According to a research carried out by Staff.am, last year the list of 20 most demanded professions in Armenia was topped by banking. About 30 percent of the announced vacancies in the country were in the financial and banking sector.
What is the reason for the fact that the information technology sector has lost ground to banking in Armenia? According to the authors of the research, the reason is, first of all, the active growth of the banking system, and then the decrease in the activity of the IT sector, which is due to the current crisis in the international IT sector.
More than 88 percent of the jobs are in the capital Yerevan, but an increase in provincial jobs was recorded for example, in Abovyan, Ashtarak, Armavir, and Arzni cities.
Considering that banks and loan organizations have the largest network of branches in Armenia’s provinces, the biggest demand was for banking and loan specialists.
Also, an increase in wages was recorded in all provinces, except for Tavush. The lowest salaries are paid in Gegharkunik and Shirak Provinces.
