The number of swine flu cases in Georgia reached 789 as of December 19, 2009. Another 8 are infected with A/H1N1 virus, and currently are in critical condition, Georgia Online reports referring to Deputy Director of the National Center for Disease Control Shota Tsanava.

63-year-old man was taken to Georgian National Centre of Interventional Medicine in Kutaisi. According to Tsanava, the patient suffers from respiratory disease, however it is unclear whether he is infected with A/H1N1 virus or not. Swine flu reaches epidemic proportions in Georgia, like in many other countries, Tsanava outlined.

Meanwhile, physicians expect new wave of epidemic in January 2010.

As NEWS.am reported previously, to date 5 swine flu deaths were registered in Georgia.
