In Akhalkalaki, mostly Armenian populated town in Georgia, 24 cases of infection with H1N1 virus were reported, but the real number reaches 149, Samhretis Karibdzhe reports.

Epidemiologist of the Public Health Center, Ronik Avakyan, says that the number of infected is even higher. Georgia has recorded 208 cases of infection as “swine flu”, according to the National Center for Health.

Currently Akhalkalaki is covered with a thick layer of snow, which to some extent prevents the spread of the virus, but there is a concern of a break out with the warming whether.

Often the ill are trying to treat it at home, but if they have trouble breathing, or fever for over 3 days they should always consult a doctor, warns the Centre.
