YEREVAN. – A total of 5.5 million drams (approx. $13,393) are raised so far to save the life of 1.5-year-old Yeghia Chinanyan, who suffers from a brain disease, his mother, Kristine Arsenyan, told Armenian News-NEWS.am. She added that the child is at home but under medical supervision. He feels somewhat weak due to the effect of the medical drugs he is administered.

Yeghia’s mother also informed that they will take the child to Europe, no later than April 15, to undergo a surgery. They wrote letters to hospitals in a variety of countries, but they so far have received a response solely from France. They have not yet decided in which country the child will be operated on, since this depends on the replies they will receive from other countries.

Arsenyan noted that they are getting numerous telephone calls, both from Armenia and abroad, as many people express their readiness to assist the family and transfer money.

Yeghia’s parents thank all those who are responsive and are helping to save the child’s life.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Little Yeghia suffers from a brain disease since birth. The blood vessels in his brain are enlarged, intertwined and clogged. The child might experience a blood efflux at any time and it might not be possible to save his life. Also, there is a cyst in his brain.

Yeghia’s parents, however, cannot afford the amount that is necessary for a respective surgery. Both of his parents are unemployed, and his 4-year-old sister already understands that her brother is ill and she prays for his recovery.

“He experienced very strong convulsions twice already. He turns blue and we just manage to get him to hospital. The convulsions last repeated on February 13. He turns blue, his eyes wander toward one direction and freeze. He was managed to be somehow saved in hospital,” his mother said.

Speaking about little Yeghia’s disease, his mother said: “There can be a blood efflux at any second, and…”

Following the public announcement by Armenian News-NEWS.am, numerous people have answered the call for saving the little boy’s life and transferred money. According to initial estimates, close to 7,000,000 drams (approx. $17,045) will be needed to have the little boy operated on abroad.
