YEREVAN. – The information which the Azerbaijani media disseminated on Tuesday, and with respect to the capturing of an Armenian citizen, has not been confirmed as of yet.

It turned out that the Azerbaijani newspapers had rushed by stating that an Armenian “saboteur” was caught. Several hours later, the same newspapers portrayed this “saboteur” as an Armenia resident who had “fled from poverty.”

Armenia defense minister’s press secretary Artsrun Hovhannisyan denied the information about a “sabotage.”

“The statement disseminated by the Azerbaijani side is disinformation,” he said.

In addition, inspections were conducted among the civilian population of Armenia’s border villages, and it was found out that there are no missing persons.

Furthermore, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Office in Yerevan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that they have not received any information from the ICRC delegation in Baku, and concerning the detaining of an Armenian citizen.

It is apparent that the aforementioned disinformation aims to restore Azerbaijan’s image, since not even a month has passed when yet another Armenian, Karen Petrosyan, was killed under Azerbaijani captivity.
