YEREVAN. – The Turkish factor is strong in Germany, and some political forces of the country take this factor into account.

Director of the Institute of Orientology of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, turkologist Ruben Safrastyan, noted the above-said at a press conference on Thursday.

In his words, the Turks’ pressure in Germany does yield some results.

“On the other hand, we saw that, for the first time in Germany, the political forces in the Bundestag [i.e. parliament] very clearly condemned the Armenian Genocide,” the turkologist noted. “I believe that the Armenian Genocide bill will be submitted for discussion before June 30.”

As reported earlier, the text of the Armenian Genocide draft resolution of the German Bundestag has been forwarded to its committees for further deliberations.

The text of this document needs to pass through the committees and submitted for Bundestag approval in the form of a resolution.

The Bundestag must approve this resolution before the summer vacation.
