YEREVAN. - Recycling plant will open in Yerevan, Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Vahe Nikoyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am. According to him, the municipality has already received investment proposals from a number of European and Canadian companies.

The proposals strongly differ in recycling volume and items, which are planned to be received on release. The city authorities do not consider the option of preliminary assortment of rubbish: according to the results of research, the amount of rubbish in the city is not much enough for the preliminary assortment to serve commercial benefit.  “And the option of processing rubbish taken from landfill can be viewed as a potentially beneficial business project. We consider the construction of recycling plant self-funding, that’s why we don’t want to take out a loan for it. Business can decide that issue as well,” Nikoyan said.
