YEREVAN. - The actual turnout of the people in the referendum on constitutional amendments was at least 40 percent, but not 50.55 percent as stated by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC). Head of the “No” Front Levon Zurbyan said the aforementioned today at the rally called in Yerevan’s Republic Square with the view of demanding annulment of the referendum results.

According to the “No” front, around 800,000 people allegedly took part in the voting, out of which 600,000 voted against the amendments, 200,000 voting in their favor.

“In the condition of such electoral fraud, it’s a great victory if the CEC announces that 421,000 voters voted “No.” Although the people weren’t able to remove the authorities, they managed to give a good slap. This voting also undermined the international reputation of [President] Serzh Sargsyan,” Zurabyan said.

According to him, they need a few days to gather the records, videos and other materials and send them to the respective authorities.

The “No” front is also going to file a case with the Armenian Constitutional Court, demanding to annul the results of the rally. Following this, on Thursday at 1:00 pm, the ANC will hold its annual march dedicated to the protection of human rights, and will in this framework also stop by the CEC building.

Zurabyan publicly urged the “New Armenia” Public Salvation Front to join them. Raffi Hovannisian accepted the proposal, and for his part called on all the political forces to join their rally to be held at Yerevan’s Liberty Square Friday.

The referendum on constitutional amendments was held in Armenia yesterday. The CEC announced that according to the final vote count, 63,35 percent of the voters (825.851 voters) said “yes” to the constitutional amendments and 32.35 percent (421,600 voters) voted “no.” The opposition considers the referendum to have been rigged.
