Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State John Kerry upon the latter's initiative Monday.

The officials urged the conflicting sides to Syrian conflict to strictly observe the ceasefire, the Russian MFA press-service reports.

“The two officials discussed the prospects for the political settlement in Syria and urged the conflicting sides to strictly observe the ceasefire regime, set up with the assistance of Russia and the United States, excluding efforts to fight terrorist groups. They also coordinated Moscow and Washington's further steps as co-chairs of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG), including the preparations for its next regular meeting.

While considering the Ukraine issue, Mr Lavrov recalled the necessity to seek the investigation of the tragedy in Odessa on May 2, 2014. It was also emphasised that the Minsk Package of Measures must be fulfilled and there are no alternatives,” the statement reads.
