YEREVAN. – The rumors, around the Government of Armenia conclusion regarding two National Assembly MPs’ initiative on recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh), are uncalled-for.

The government conclusion does not mean supporting the initiative.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia (MFA) noted the aforesaid in a statement on Thursday.

“Armenia has repeatedly, clearly stated in which case it will recognize the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic,” the statement also reads and continues: “In the event of making such an important decision, President of the Republic of Armenia, as a predictable and reliable partner, will inform his colleagues in advance, first of all, leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries.

“We hope that Azerbaijan will find rationality in itself, and refrain from the repetition of the adventurism unleashed in early April.

“The process can be returned to the negotiation framework solely with the awareness of the absence of an alternative for the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, and finding the fair and effective way for the full realization of the right to self-determination of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.”
