The decision on extension of sanctions against Syria for one year comes into force, reports TASS referring to the respective normative act published in  the EU Official journal. The EU Council adopted the decision to extend sanctions on 27 May . The journal says that the EU sanctions against Syria will remain in force as long as the repression against the civilian population continues.

The EU sanctions against Syria include a ban on oil trade, restrictions on investment, freezing of the Syrian central bank assets in the EU, dual-use technologies , as well as a ban on telephone, internet communications, and monitoring equipment. In addition,   more than 200 individuals 70 legal entities Syria are in the EU blacklist.
