The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs should stop making vague statements, Naira Zohrabyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Chairwoman of the Commission for European Integration, RA Parliament, told NEWS.am, commenting on the Co-Chairs’ statement on the OSCE field assessment mission.

“It is due to such vague statements that Azerbaijan is increasing its military potential, and the Azerbaijani President states his readiness for a military settlement of the conflict in almost all his speeches. It is due to such statements that Armenian soldiers fall victim to Azerbaijani sniping at the border,” Zohrabyan said.

“Azerbaijan pledged to observe the three principles: nonuse of force or threat of force, territorial integrity and peoples’ self-determination. So why do we constantly hear about Azerbaijan’s intention to resolve the problem by force? Why are our soldiers’ killed?” Zohrabyan asked.

Immediately after the Chailu incident the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs should have named the responsible side and taken necessary measures. “The longer they keep silence the stronger Azerbaijan will feel permissiveness - and there will be more victims,” Zohrabyan said. She recalled that President Aliev “fled” to Baku immediately after the Armenian-Azerbaijani-Russian presidential meeting in Saint Petersburg. “He was upset at something, went back to Baku and the act of sabotage followed at once. No ambiguity. The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs should have condemned Azerbaijan,” Zohrabyan said.

The reason for the Co-Chairs’ vague statements is their unwillingness to sway the balance in either side’s favor. “They do not want to endanger the negotiation process, but it is time they realized they are doing so by holding such a position,” Zohrabyan said.
