YEREVAN. - The debt of Gazprom Armenia - if such emerges - will not become that of the Government.

Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia, Ashot Manukyan, said the aforementioned in the parliament on Wednesday, responding to the question of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Secretary Aram Manukyan.

The deputy inquired what compensates the possible risks of the price drop.

The Minister noted that Gazprom will help its subsidiary, Gazprom Armenia, and include additional means in its authorized capital. The final amount will be determined as a result of the talks between the parent company and its subsidiary.

In late October, Gazprom Armenia requested the Public Services Regulatory Committee (PSRC) to lower the gas tariff. Its parent company, Russian Gazprom, announced about its readiness to replenish its authorized capital.

On November 7, Chairman of the PSRC, Robert Nazaryan, noted that by the end of November the tariff will be finally determined and take effect since 1 January 2017. The decision on the electricity tariff, which will also be adopted by the end of December, will take effect starting from 1 February 2017.
