YEREVAN. - The situation round Syria may directly impact Armenia. Director of the Caucasus Institute, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan said the aforementioned at a press-conference Wednesday.

In his words, this is important for Armenia, since Turkey is a direct player in Syria, the attempts to establish a status quo without Turks still remaining futile.

''This will be an entirely different region. Syria has turned into Afghanistan, and it will take long to wait for the normalization of situation in that country,'' Isakndaryan said.

Armenia is a country, which is not psychologically in the place where it lives, he noted. ''It seems to us that Moscow is closer to us than Aleppo and that Brussels is closer to us than Mosul. The fact that the Russians and Americans are trying to find a common language on Syria is good for us too. They are trying but most likely they do not yet manage well enough,'' the analyst concluded.
