The deadlines of cancelling the visa regime for Georgian citizens isn't a matter of political will, but a purely procedural matter.

High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, stated the aforementioned Friday, RIA Novosti reports.

''I cannot give you a date because this is in the hands of the Parliament and the Council now to finalise – I even said not to finalise the decision-making, I said to finalise the procedure because I believe it is not a matter of political will, it is not a matter linked to Georgia, it is a matter linked to the finalisation of a procedure that needs to be done internally within the European Union on the mechanism,'' she told journalists after the EU - Georgia Association Council.

In her words, ''Georgia has worked in an incredible manner to make this happen, to meet all the benchmarks.''

The Council of the European Union, which includes all member-states of the union, insists on that the visa regime must take effect with the introduction of the 'visa suspension mechanism.' This mechanism can be put to work by the EU commission, upon its own initiative, or the demand of one of the EU members. According to a number of EU media outlets, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament have certain divergence in regard to this issue.
