Ankara disposes of information on the links of the Russian Ambassador's killer to the organization of preacher Fethullah Gülen, Turkish FM Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said Wednesday.

''The information and documents at our disposal indicate that the killer had links to the terrorists of Fethullah Gülen,'' Çavuşoğlu said, Anadolu reports.   

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip  Erdoğan  already stated that the ties of the Russian ambassador's killer pointed out to his affiliation to the organization of oppositionist Islamist preacher Gülen (FETO), RIA Novosti reports.

On December 19, a gunman attacked Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Andrei Karlov, while he was giving a speech at a photo exhibition in the Turkish capital city of Ankara.

Karlov was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but he could not be saved.

The assailant, who was shot dead by police, was later identified as Ankara police officer Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş. The Russian MFA qualified the incident as a terrorist attack.
