YEREVAN. - Armenia has a bill against unjust enrichment, but it shouldn’t be given a retroactive effect.

Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan said the aforementioned at a press-conference on Friday.

In his words, if the law is implemented retroactively, nothing good can be expected. “That is nothing but political revenge-seeking, which is fraught with the most unexpected consequences,” the PM noted.

The aforementioned bill was adopted by the Armenian parliament on December 16. However, it will not take effect immediately but only after 1 July 2017. It is proposed to punish officials for their illegal (that is, not substantiated in the declaration) income exceeding 5 million AMD (approx. $10,000).
