U.S. President-elect Donald Trump called NATO important but at the same time obsolete because it had not defended against terror attacks, but that the military alliance was still very important to him, The Times of London reported.

“NATO is obsolete, first because it was designed many, many years ago,” Trump said in the Bild version of the interview. “Secondly, countries aren’t paying what they should” and NATO “didn’t deal with terrorism.”

He noted that despite all aforesaid, “NATO is very important for him”.

“The UK is paying. There's five countries that are paying what they’re supposed to. Five. It’s not much,” U.S. President-elect stated.
