On November 6, during his visit to Lori, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan handed the keys of apartments in the New Neighborhood of Spitak to the families left homeless after 1988 devastating earthquake.

The President walked along the district and inspected the newly built houses. He also inquired about further construction works. Sargsyan congratulated the families on the construction of the district and discussed further programs with local residents.

In 2010, a new district, 220 apartments, was built in Spitak.
