YEREVAN. - The volumes of gas imported by Gazprom Armenia and consumed in the country have grown as compared with January 2016.

The press-service of Gazprom Armenia informed the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am, referring to the information circulated by media on that more gas was imported to Armenia this year as compared with last January, but the volumes of the supplied gas still didn’t live up to Gazprom’s expectations.

Gazprom Armenia representatives noted that they have not set a task of living of up to someone’s expectations. “As to the statistics, the volumes of gas imported by Gazprom Armenia in January this year have increased 31 percent as compared with the analogous period last year, the gas consumption during the same period growing 38.5 percent as compared to January 2016.

Earlier, Haykakan Zhamanak wrote: “This January more gas was imported to the Republic of Armenia than last January. Although the data have not yet been published, according to our information, the volumes of gas didn’t live up to Gazprom’s expectations. The thing is that the gas tariff was reduced by the substantiation that it would result in the significant growth of consumption, which would in its turn lower the prime cost of gas supply. However, despite cold January, the volumes of gas supply have not grown so that to live up to that expectations.”
