YEREVAN. – On the occasion of International Day of Happiness, Armenian News-NEWS.am on Monday conducted a survey among the residents of Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, to find out the extent to which people consider themselves happy.

But most of the respondents said they do not consider themselves happy, and primarily due to the socioeconomic condition and lack of jobs in the country.

“If a person is socially vulnerable, he can’t consider himself happy,” said a respondent. “The problems are so many that you can’t feel happy.”

“I need about 100,000 dollars of money for happiness,” said another respondent.

Nonetheless, the majority of respondents were happy that they were living in Armenia. Many said they had tried to live abroad, but then returned to Armenia.

Most Armenians, however, consider their family as the main source of their happiness.
