YEREVAN. – Newly appointed Ambassador of Israel to Armenia, Eliyahu Yerushalmi—whose diplomatic residence is in Jerusalem, on Thursday presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan. 

The President congratulated the ambassador on his appointment, and underscored that the Armenian authorities stand ready to support his activities aimed at the strengthening and development of Armenian-Israeli relations, the press office of the President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. Serzh Sargsyan noted that the age-long Armenian-Israeli ties obligate to invigorate and give a new quality to bilateral state relations. Sargsyan highlighted the importance of the recent enhancement of parliamentary and public relations.
Ambassador Yerushalmi, for his part, noted that his government’s message, which he has brought to Armenia, is as follows: Israel wishes to have open and advanced relations with Armenia, and as ambassador, he will do his utmost to bring this message to fruition as soon as possible. Underscoring that Israel has deep respect towards Armenians, the Israeli diplomat said it is a great honor for him to serve for the strengthening and development of state relations between the two ancient peoples. 

At the ensuing talk, the interlocutors discussed the opportunities and prospects for the development of Armenian-Israeli relations, and exchanged views on regional matters and developments.
