The U.S. Department of State has asked American embassies and consulates around the world to identify certain groups that should get extra scrutiny when they apply for visas, RBC reported quoting Associated Press.

U.S. embassies have also been ordered to conduct “mandatory social media checks” for applicants who have ever been in territory controlled by the Islamic State terrorist group.

Orders were sent on March 17 to all U.S. diplomatic missions. Such measures are designed to find those who can pose a threat to the United States.
