At least eight people were killed after a gold mine accident in central China's Henan Province.

As Xinhua reported, as a result of the accident, 18 miners had been trapped under the ground. Ten people were lifted out of the mine and sent for treatment, but one of them died in hospital. The condition of the others is estimated as stable. Seven miners were found dead, another one is listed as missing.

The accident occurred at about 10 a.m. because of a smoke in Qinling gold mine of China National Gold Group in Lingbao city, according to the local emergency office.
