Georgia needs NATO membership, but not Membership Action Plan (MAP), Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze said at a meeting of the political committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Georgia-online reported.

According to him, MAP or NATO membership is not directed against Russia. He added that NATO membership is aimed at creation of stability and safety in Georgia. It is Georgia's sovereign choice, to be part of that free world with which they share common values.
