YEREVAN. – Armen Rustamyan, head of the National Assembly (NA) faction of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party—which is junior partner of the coalition government with the Republican Party of Armenia, does not agree with the comments that the Constitution was amended so that the NA assume the task of resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“The President [of Armenia] spoke about the Kazan [in Russia] documents, from which Azerbaijan has diverged,” said Rustamyan. “The Armenian sides [to the conflict] stand on a very clear argument that unless Azerbaijan recognizes the exercising of the [people of Karabakh’s] right to self-determination, there can be no talk on any concessions, whatsoever.”

As per the ARF MP, the “center of gravity” for decision-making in Armenia will now completely shift to the parliament.

“Now, the National Assembly will be the sole body to have the primary mandate in the country,” added Armen Rustamyan.
