An earthquake with a  magnitude of 6.2 has struck near the coast of western Turkey. The Greek island of Lesbos has also been rattled, Independent reported.

The epicenter of the earthquake was off the coast of the Karaburun district of western Izmir province.

It wasn't immediately clear if Monday's quake had caused any major damage in Turkey or Greece.
