YEREVAN. – Armenian government will set a minimal fine for illegal dumping of garbage at no less than 16 thousand drams (around $33), Armenian minister said following Cabinet’s meeting on Thursday.

David Lokyan, Minister of Territorial Administration, said the fine should reach 200 - 300 thousand for large companies.

Fines are not the only measure to accustom society to cleanliness, the government will launch a series of propaganda videos and training events for young people.

In 2018 the ministry is going to purchase about 10 thousand garbage cans that will be installed in squares, theaters and museums as well as large churches. The local authorities will have to purchase the cans and will have to pay for garbage trucks.
