U.S. President Donald Trump and Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy oppose Catalonia’s independence referendum.

During the joint presser, Trump said he believes the Catalonians will stay with Spain, adding that he is for “a united Spain”, Reuters reported.

The referendum on Catalonia’s independence is set for October 1, while the Spanish authorities describe it as illegal and inconsistent with the Constitution.
