The Chinese government believes that the initiative of freezing the nuclear program of North Korea in exchange for ceasing of joint military trainings of the U.S. and the Republic of Korea is still the most flexible and rational approach in the resolution of the nuclear problem on the Korean peninsula. The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Geng Shuang commented on President Trumps’ announcement concerning the refusal of the initiative, TASS reports.
Geng Shuang noted that this initiative will solve the most acute dreads of the sides in the field of defense, and will give new opportunities and conditions for peaceful negotiations. He also added that the initiative is just a first step, and not the final destination.
As a conclusion, Geng Shuang said that only this way they can find the resolution for the problem. Military actions are not an appropriate way of solving such issues, and the international society has reached a consensus about this.
