YEREVAN. – Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandian on Friday met with EU special representative on South Caucasus Toivo Klaar.

Minister Nalbandian congratulated Klaar on taking up his new position and wished him success, expressing hope that the newly appointed special representative will contribute to the settlement of existing problems, foreign ministry said in a statement.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to Armenia-EU relations. The interlocutors also stressed the importance of the expanded and comprehensive partnership agreement, noting that it is a strong legal base for further strengthening and deepening of cooperation between Armenia and the EU.

Nalbandian briefed EU diplomat on Armenia’s approaches to an exclusively peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, as well as joint efforts of Yerevan and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs in this direction.

In turn, the EU special representative confirmed the EU's assistance to the efforts and approaches of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on key regional and international problems.
