United States ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Nikki Haley has stated that even though President Donald Trump made a “courageous” move by recognizing Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel, “the final status of Jerusalem is between the Palestinians and the Israelis; it’s not for the Americans to decide,” reported the CBS.

“It’s the right thing to do because it’s just reality,” se said. “Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.’

In the diplomat’s words, “when you recognize the truth, when both parties recognize reality, peace comes.”

But the US ambassador to the UN assured that Washington will “continue to support the peace process.”

Haley noted, however, that she is not concerned about the criticisms of Trump’s decision. “Any time you have to go against the status quo, you’re going to have people saying the sky is falling,” she added. “But the sky is not falling.”

And in an interview with CNN, Nikki Haley disagreed with the argument that Trump’s actions will have a negative impact on the Arab world.

On December 6, US President Donald Trump stated that he recognizes Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel, and said the US Department of State has been ordered to start transferring the US embassy in Israel, from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

But this decision has brought about worldwide reaction.
